Dr. Marc Kurepkat

Marc Kurepkat, MD, is a physician and entrepreneur with more than 30 years of experience at the intersection of medicine, digital health, and healthcare innovation — including executive positions across the German healthcare system.

A pioneer in the digitalisation of health information in Germany, Marc was among the first to build consumer and professional health information portals, during his time with Bertelsmann Mediengruppe. He has since founded two healthcare startups: Mediplaza, spanning medical centres, managed care, nursing services, and physiotherapy; and Sanmelio, focused on outpatient psychotherapy.

His clinical background includes training in internal medicine and geriatrics, work as an emergency medicine physician, and a doctorate in infectious diseases. He has been significantly involved in the development of case management programmes and was an early pioneer in building digital patient support applications for high-cost indications.

Since 2001, he has been closely affiliated with the IGES Group. He holds the position of CEO of CSG and has previously served as COO and consultant — with a focus on Real-World Data, chronic diseases, digital health, and healthcare innovation.

Marc remains active as a General Practitioner in ambulatory care.

1998

Gründung

Mit der Gründung der Clinical Study Group (CSG) legen wir den Grundstein für eine spezialisierte klinische Forschungseinheit innerhalb der IGES Gruppe – mit dem klaren Auftrag: Primärdaten erheben, wo Sekundärdaten nicht ausreichen.

2001

Oracle

Wir denken groß: Mit der Einführung von Oracle setzen wir früh auf professionelle Dateninfrastruktur – weil Qualität in der klinischen Forschung keine Kompromisse kennt.

2008

HAROW-Studie

Ein Meilenstein der Real-World-Evidence in der urologischen Onkologie: Die HAROW-Studie ist eine der größten Beobachtungsstudien zu Prostatakrebs im deutschsprachigen Raum und etabliert die CSG als führende Adresse für versorgungsnahe Forschung.

2012-2019

IGES wird europäisch

Mit Health Econ in der Schweiz (2012) und Device Access UK Ltd (2019) wächst die IGES Gruppe über Deutschland hinaus. Die CSG vernetzt sich mit Market-Access- und Reimbursement-Experten für MedTech und Pharma – als embedded CRO mit europäischer Reichweite.

2017

Innovationsfonds

Der Innovationsfonds des G-BA startet – und wir sind von Anfang an dabei. Unsere DNA: über den Tellerrand schauen, klinische Forschung mit Versorgungsforschung und Gesundheitspolitik verknüpfen. Evidenz, die das große Ganze im Blick hat.

2020

Erste DiGA-Studie

Startup trifft GKV: Mit der ersten Studie zu einer Digitalen Gesundheitsanwendung betreten wir gemeinsam mit unseren Partnern Neuland. Steile Lernkurven für alle – und ein weiterer Beweis unserer Innovationsbereitschaft.

2022

Erste Anwendungsbegleitende Datenerhebung (ABD)

Registerbasiert, komplex, wegweisend: Mit der ersten AbD – zunächst für Zolgensma, dann für Risdiplam – etablieren wir einen neuen Studientyp in der deutschen Versorgungslandschaft.

2026

2025: Mit der ersten Erprobungsstudie liefern wir kontrollierte Real-World-Evidence, die im Versorgungskontext wirklich zählt. Und mit Athagoras bündeln wir das Wissen von über 500 Expertinnen und Experten.
